IVF-X posthuman parenting in hybrid reality

“I play with our present from a future perspective. Intrigued by the human tension between sensual experience and rationality – between senses and systems. Collaborating on the verge of performance, audiovisual installation and technological innovation.”

Victorine van Alphen (1988), transmedia artist and director of IVF-X exhibited worldwide – from Kaohsiung to Sao Paolo – luring audiences deeper and deeper into the intimate futuristic clinic IVF-X in which people breed and meet their own cyborg babies.

This work reached the New York Times, various media up to the Brazilian national TV and touched its audiences deeply. This rendered Victorine famous for her unique transmedia approach choreographing modes of being, in which she carefully designs spaces, hybrid performance, and social interaction combining various media in order to choreograph experiencers through different states of perceiving and thinking causing lasting experiences that open up deep debates & feelings.

Victorine holds degrees in Philosophy and Science (UvA, 2014) Art (Rietveld/ Audiovisual 2015) and graduated as artistic researcher from the Master of Film at the Netherlands Film Academy in 2021.
As VR curator for VRDays Europe + Kaboom animation festival and teacher/researcher Immersive Realities at the Film Academy, she is deeply connected to new developments in the XR industry worldwide.
