Maker: Jan-Timo Geschwill

Timo Geschwill is an artist and educator from Germany currently living and working in Amsterdam. He received a MA from the Netherlands Film Academy and a BA in Design from the Utrecht School of the Arts. Departing from an experimental practice in which his work is often in dialogue with the past he (self-) critically reflects upon the conjunction between society, identity, technology and media. He is fascinated by the conventions and societal rules in media in particular cinema and virtual reality. His artworks deal with the restrictiveness and closedness of these. As an artist, he resists and plays with those rules in order to imagine spaces in which equity and inclusion are promoted.
